The Washington Humane Society (WHS) is seeking an outgoing, energetic, team player to join our team as the Veterinary Technician Manager at our National Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center. WHS is the only Congressionally-chartered animal welfare agency in the United States and operates two open-admission shelters, a Behavior and Learning Center and the National Capital Area Spay and Neuter Center. Noted nationwide for flagship programs like Dog Tags, the PACK (People and Animals Cardio Klub) and the TNR program CatNiPP, WHS is a rapidly growing organization.
The Veterinary Technician Manager is responsible for providing oversight and training to a team of veterinary technicians, assistants and volunteers. Oversees and performs surgical preparation, anesthesia induction, patient monitoring, recovery and clean-up. Ensures that controlled substance logs are maintained in accordance with regulations. Provides in-person and telephone customer service. - Ensures that animal housing areas are maintained using appropriate diseases control and sanitation protocols.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience as a veterinary technician with strong emphasis on surgical prep and assistance
  • Prior management experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Ability to work some weekends
